Guidance Card Of The Month:
Every month I pull a card from the 'Art Guidance Cards' deck and share it with you. This may be a card that holds some truths or information for you. Today's card is:
"Unity"
Unite your body, mind and spirit. Exhale and release negative energy. Breathe in positive energy to recharge your spirit.
Inner Guidance Question: What new belief or action creates positive energy in your body, mind and spirit?
Guidance Tip Of The Month:
"How to ground yourself"
I have friend who writes me long emails once in a while. In her emails, she often sounds frantic, stressed, and her stories go on and on about this or that. It sounds literally like her thoughts are running away with her. She has a very busy mind. Reading her emails are, well, tedious at best.
Perhaps you also know a friend like that? My friend lives a long ways away from me so we don’t talk often on the phone. However, even when we chat, she talks like she sounds in her email: preoccupied, frantic, and stressed. It feels like she’s not very present and the conversation takes a lot of energy on my part.
So I asked her one time if she knows what “grounding yourself” means. She said “yes”. Grounding yourself is very helpful when you feel overwhelmed, too excited, anxious, or stressed. Grounding yourself will help calm your physical and mental being. There are various techniques for grounding yourself. Here are some examples:
a) Breathe deeply, b) do a mental body scan,
c) focus on your body,
d) mediate,
e) visualize,
f) remind yourself not to rush.
These days as I talk to my friend and notice she’s in a stressed state, I ask her if she can ground herself, and when she does, wow, our email conversations are a lot more relaxing! She even appreciates the reminders for herself. Grounding yourself is a great exercise for every day, even if you’re not feeling stressed. It can help you communicate better, listen more intently, and feel overall more tuned in.
