Guide Me Newsletter - Happy New Year - 2006!
Dear Friend,
I would like to wish you a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
If you're a new subscriber, a warm welcome! I hope you enjoy the "Guide Me Newsletter".
As the new year begins, we often become a little more introspective, pondering the year that has past and what we have learned from its experiences. Likely, you might also be making some new plans and set inspiring goals for the new year. This is an excellent time to work on personal goals, and put some of these plans into action. Dreams are only dreams when nothing is done to achieve the dream. The possibilities for 2006 are infinite!
If you encounter any challenges on the way to achieving your dreams, remember this Sufi Saying:
"Behind every adversity lies a hidden possibility."
I believe that we are all on a spiritual journey. Sometimes the journey may not even feel very "spiritual". And personal growth can be a bit of a struggle and challenge us in ways we don't always enjoy. I remember one of my favourite sayings by Marianne Williamson:
"Spiritual progress is like a detoxification.
Things have to come up in order to be released.
Once we have asked to be healed,
then our unhealed places are forced to the surface."
If you're ready for an intuitive start this year, I've added some fun, intuitive exercises below. I hope you enjoy them.

Intuitive Start for the New Year - by Karin Bauer
A new year has begun and with it, endless new possibilities are quietly floating to (or perhaps banging loudly at) your door. For many people, last year was a difficult year. So many things happened, and at times, it's difficult not to feel somewhat beat up by all the turmoil that occurred. 2006 is here, and we are given new chances and possibilities to start fresh. Perhaps you are still sitting in a bit of a hiding place, a little uncertain whether it's really all that safe to jump right in? Well, if you are, I don't blame you. Maybe 'jumping in' isn't the best thing anyway. Maybe 'intuitively navigating your path' would be a better metaphor. However, if you are looking for your new start and are ready to begin, you need to start somewhere. One way to start may be by taking a look at what your possibilities even are.
Here are some intuitive awareness exercises you can use for recognizing your possibilities:
1) Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
2) Relax your body and let your mind float with its thoughts.
3) Start with gratitude: make a list of all the things you are truly grateful for, no matter how small or large they are.
4) Find your song: come up with a theme song that you can play in your head or sing when you need inspiration
5) Make a collage: Cut out images from magazines that represent you and your dreams (don't be afraid to dream!)
6) Now that your left brain is engaged, write down all the little things that have come to your attention in the last two weeks: i.e. the winter is mild this year and we have some sun; I hear more birds singing in January than last year; I got a call from an old friend whom I missed a lot; I found a special pen that makes me want to write more; etc.
When you're finished, take a look at all the little things that have come to your attention and see if you can find metaphors for them. For example, the mild winter may be a metaphor for more warmth in your life; the birds may be a metaphor for a beautiful new song starting to play in your life; the friend may be a surprise and a confirmation that wonderful surprises can and do happen with other things; the pen may signal that you have the support to write your book or journal more freely.
Keep looking and be aware.....Enjoy this process! And then, ever so lightly, let your intuition lead you along your new path of possibilities.
