Welcome to the December '05 issue of your Guide Me Newsletter. As your Guidance Coach, I strive to provide an inspirational, educational and interactive newsletter every month. It is my hope that you gain wisdom and practical tips you can apply in your own life. Let's talk about and explore what's really on your mind with real questions you'd like a new and positive perspective on!

It's an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding on many personal topics. This month's topic: 'Overcoming Blocks'

Reader's Guidance Question of the month:
"I want to start my own business. But I'm stuck and can't seem to move forward. What should I do first?"

Guidance Coach Karin's Answer:
Believe it or not, this is a common question! However, since I don't know much about your situation, I think we should explore various possiblilities. Let's examine this more closely.
There are several Guidance Cards that would be helpful in exploring this question. I've chosen the card titled "Flow" for your question. Here's the Flow Guidance card:

The "Flow" card asks you to let your natural energy emerge. Start by looking at where your resistance lies. What is the true desire for having a business? What steps have you already taken towards your new business? Is this business a natural fit for you or does it just 'seem' like a good idea? So many times we lock into an idea because it 'sounds' brilliant. However, if you meditate on this for a while and let your true self speak, what does it tell you? Does your soul sing with joy when you think about this new business idea? Or does your mind start babbling with all kinds of reasons and logical explanations convincing you of something?

Let's open the space for new affirming solutions. In order to find your flow, you may have to let go of certain expectations, desires or dreams, if even just temporarily. This may sound counter-active, especially if you believe in the motivational line of thinking "that you can do anything you set your mind to". There is nothing wrong with having a strong belief in yourself, however, if this is what's driving you to achieve, you must look deeper. Just for a moment, release the need for "achieving", "striving", "making a certain outcome happen".  Release the ego. Then, connect with your true self, the deep inner voice of knowing. At this moment, decide to just go with the flow. You'll recognize the flow, as it is easy and the energy you put in feels effortless and very rewarding. Ask yourself: What will your life look like when you are flowing freely?

Now let's apply the concept of "flow" to your whole life, not just your business start up question. Imagine flowing freely in all aspects of life. If you look deeper, getting stuck is often about other things, such as fear of the unknown, fear of success or failure. Perhaps you feel you're lacking experience, skills or support. Where else in your life are you feeling stuck? Where else in your life would you like to start flowing more freely?
Be sure that if you're feeling stuck with your business start up, you will need outlets of creative flow. For example, if you're enjoying daily walks in nature and find this to be a happy and creative time, incorporate daily walks into your business planning routine.

Lastly, ask yourself "What does my soul want"? If the answer is success, money, prestige, respect, security and prosperity, you will know that is not your soul talking.  Guidance Coach's Tip of the month:
Overcoming blocks is a topic with endless possibilities. The tips I've shared are just some things to think about to get you started. It is important to keep flowing with life. If you keep getting stuck, or start and stop tasks without a natural flow, you need to focus on flow. Flow encourages you to engage in continuous action in your journey, your life, and your purpose. Flow lets you create and keep creating without wearing yourself out. When you're in a flow, you will feel happy and productive.
