I have just returned from a wonderful trip to Hawaii to celebrate my birthday on the first day of spring in March. It was a lovely time being in Hawaii, where the energy is so soft and beautiful. Guidance Card Of The Month:

Every month I hold an intention to write about something that could be of importance to share with you. Then, for inspiration, I pull a card from the 'Art Guidance Cards' deck and share it with you. This may be a card that holds some truths or information for you. Today's card is titled "Universal Creative Force". Here's what the card says:

"Heart and Soul Dance"

Imagine your soul and heart connecting.
Let your heart and soul dance with joy.
Unhook thoughts that create pain in your heart.
Be true to your spirit and inner guide.

Guidance Tip Of The Month:

"Think out of the box."

How can a piece of abstract art allow you to think out of the box? Well, it can in many ways. I've had a new revelation the other day. While working with humans, I realized that being in the "right brain" is actually not something that comes naturally to many adults. We are taught early on to think rationally, lineally, and strategically. Our first experience as a child with art was often labeled as "scribbles" and "cute". Our parents wanted to see results, and our kindergarten teachers handed us "coloring books" to paint within the lines and "produce skilled work". Is it any wonder when as adults we feel lost looking at abstract art work at first? When we don't see realism or figurative art that tells us what to think, feel, and see, some adults just aren't sure of what to make of it.

That is why abstract art really stretches the mind and opens the heart. It gives the viewer something to ponder, and not just mentally, but also emotionally. What's interesting is that when working with humans who are disconnected from their emotions, intuition and creativity, bringing them back into their right brain is very effective. However, when I work training my horses, it's the opposite. Horses are flight animals, and they operate quite naturally in the right brain, reacting emotionally to obstacles and people. When training horses, I work on getting the horse into the left brain to start thinking. Humans on the other hand are so "good" at thinking, that their emotional communication signals get overridden -- and many times that leads them to be stuck, disconnected or not in integrity with themselves.

So, bring out the abstract art, bring out the Art Guidance Cards. Allow yourself to "think out of the box", to color "outside of the lines", and visualize with your imagination again.
